Exhibition 'Porcelain of the Land of Soviets'
About exhibition
Porcelain tableware and figurines from the Soviet era have undoubtedly become a distinct cultural phenomenon and an integral part of everyday life for millions of Soviet families. But it would be wrong to assume that Soviet porcelain is limited to plates with hammer-and-sickle motifs, mugs bearing portraits of the leader, and busts of revolutionary heroes and party officials. The exhibition offers visitors an astonishing variety of animal figures, fairy-tale and literary characters, representatives of the peoples of the USSR in colorful national costumes, as well as sailors, servicemen, hockey players, Young Pioneers and many other heroes of the time. Among these figurines are true works of art! In total, the exhibition features around 150 rare and outstanding pieces of Soviet porcelain from the collections of Elena Baskakova and Irina Fomicheva, as well as from the Novosibirsk Museum's holdings.
