Exhibition 'Jews in Siberia: the G. M. Vilner Family'
About exhibition
The history of Minusinsk is closely tied to the fates of its residents — notable industrialists, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists. An important role in the city's history was played by Gersh Mordukhovich Vilner, a Minusinsk merchant who rose from peasant origins. G. M. Vilner was at the forefront of Minusinsk's electrification and urban improvements, took an active part in the city's public life, and left a unique architectural legacy — the 'Siberian Winter Palace'. This traveling exhibition project sheds light on the life and culture of Jewish merchant families in the south of Krasnoyarsk Krai. The core of the project consists of photographs of the Vilner family held in the collections of the Minusinsk Regional Museum of Local Lore named after N. M. Martyanov and photos from the personal archives of the family's descendants.
