Exhibition "We Did Everything We Could to Bring This Day Closer..."
About exhibition
The chronological scope of the exhibition covers the pre-war period and the events of the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). Visitors will see materials highlighting the course of the war and military operations on the territory of Rostov Oblast, as well as personal collections — belongings, documents, and awards of Great Patriotic War participants who received state decorations for feats carried out on the battlefields. Among the exhibits are: the field satchel/portfolio of Lieutenant General D. M. Ryabyshev; a German canteen, model 1931, captured during the fighting for Rostov-on-Don by Senior Lieutenant G. K. Repin; flying goggles and a compass belonging to Lieutenant E. A. Nikulina; a Walther pistol taken as a trophy during the fighting at the railway station by Hero of the Soviet Union Senior Lieutenant G. K. Madoyan; and many other personal items both of Don natives who fought for Victory and of those who made a major contribution to the liberation of Rostov-on-Don and Rostov Oblast. In addition, visitors will be introduced to examples of the Red Army's uniforms, equipment, and weapons from the period of the Great Patriotic War.
