The project will showcase a new facet of the work of People's Artist of the Russian Federation Lev Georgievich Prygunov. The author will appear to the viewer not only as a theatre and film actor, but also as a talented painter. Visual art is another side of the master's artistic nature. Lev Georgievich mainly works in the genre of still life and constructs his compositions like theatrical plays, where everyday objects become actors. The painter defines his creative approach as 'energetic realism' — a style characterized by vivid color and an attentiveness to the dynamic forces of the surrounding world. A graduate of the acting faculty of the Leningrad Theatrical Institute, he was surrounded by painters from his student years — first befriending students from N.P. Akimov's workshop. After moving to Moscow in 1962 he grew close to artists A.V. Kharitonov, E.A. Shteinberg, E.L. Zelenin, O.N. Tselkov, A.T. Zverev, M.M. Shvartsman and others. He has regularly participated in exhibitions since the 1980s, including projects at the Central House of Artists, the Museum of the History of Moscow, the Kaluga Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Yaroslavl, the Vladimir Vysotsky Museum and other state museums of Russia.
