About exhibition
Dedicated to the heroic work of railway workers during the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition displays rare artifacts, documents and photographs: railway workers' uniforms and awards, medical instruments from military-hospital trains and a device for blood transfusion, models of an artillery transporter and the steam locomotive Em No. 721-83, which pulled the first train out of Leningrad after the breakthrough of the blockade, albums of photographs of the destruction and restoration on the October Railway, as well as a unique blanket knitted in blockaded Leningrad. The combination of authentic exhibits and vivid installations helps immerse visitors in the wartime atmosphere. The exhibition's architectural and artistic design creates a sense of presence. Thematic sections of the exhibition are devoted to ensuring the uninterrupted movement of trains, the delivery of troops, ammunition and equipment to the front, the large-scale evacuation of the population, industrial equipment and cultural valuables to the rear, life in frontline and besieged cities, the work of military-hospital trains, the restoration of destroyed railways, and the arrival of the Victory Train at Belorussky railway station in 1945.
