Exhibition 'Diorama'
About exhibition
The last large and remarkable work of the famous Russian artist Vasily Dmitrievich Polenov — the diorama — is a pictorial round-the-world journey. What is a Polenov diorama sheet? Two panes of glass with a sheet of drawing paper between them. The drawing on the paper is made on both sides; the artist worked with transparent paints — watercolors. There are appliqués and cutouts. Diorama sheets are shown using backlighting. The diorama is a work that still evokes unwavering delight in children, adults, and foreign visitors. With the help of the pictures and the narrative composed by the artist himself, visitors will have the opportunity to visit several countries and become acquainted with the wonders of the world.
