The last large and remarkable work of the famous Russian artist Vasily Dmitrievich Polenov — the diorama — is a pictorial round-the-world journey. What is a Polenov diorama sheet? Two panes of glass with a sheet of drawing paper between them. The drawing on the paper is made on both sides; the artist worked with transparent paints — watercolors. There are appliqués and cutouts. Diorama sheets are shown using backlighting. The diorama is a work that still evokes unwavering delight in children, adults, and foreign visitors.
