Children's Museum Center Exhibition
About exhibition
The interactive educational historical exhibition 'I Am' is dedicated to the world of childhood of an urban child in the 19th century. It is based on the book 'Azbuka' by the noted artist Elizaveta Merkuryevna Bem. The work, published in 1913–1914 by Ivan Lapin, was not intended to teach literacy to very young children, but rather as a story in pictures. Its varied and exceptionally beautiful handwritten letters, children's portraits in historical costumes, and Russian folk proverbs from different eras make it extraordinarily interesting, beautiful, and almost fairytale-like. The exhibition aims to introduce visitors to the lives of young town residents of the 19th century.
