Exhibition 'The Tenth Muse of Kolyma'
About exhibition
Exhibition about the birth of cinema in Kolyma. Residents of Magadan will learn about the first film screening, which took place in 1923, about the first clubs and cinemas, about films shot in the Okhotsk–Kolyma region, about the first Chukchi actors and projectionists, about the 'fur cinemas' and the work of the 'Red yarangs'. The exhibition features more than 50 historical photographs. As a reminder, in Magadan in 1941 there was an order to "...open a city cinema in the building of the M. Gorky Theatre...". Audience members attended screenings after work shifts and duties. Especially popular were 'wartime film compilations', from which viewers learned about the course of military operations and how the elderly, women and children worked on the home front. Tours are held by appointment; phone: 8(4132)651773.
