At the temporary exhibition "Money — a Mirror of History" visitors will learn how monetary circulation began in Ancient Rus, see genuine coins of the Horde khans and compare them with coins of the Russian principalities. Paper money also played an important role in the country's history. Here visitors will see all types, from the first paper banknotes issued in 1769 to modern banknotes, and will become acquainted with a complete collection of Civil War currencies. The travelling exhibition of numismatics and banknote collecting will not only show what Russian money looked like in different periods, but also offer a kind of journey through time, revealing various historical epochs in a new light and sharing many interesting facts.
