Exhibition "Decorative and Applied Arts of Russia"
About exhibition
The exhibition showcases Russia's folk crafts: magnificent Zhostovo trays, Khokhloma painting, Semenov matryoshkas, Palekh lacquer miniatures, as well as lacy wood carving by A. Baibarin, which astonishingly combines with oil paintings — scenes from M. Sholokhov's novel "And Quiet Flows the Don", bead-embroidered icons of saints by V. Ovsyannikova, and icons by V. Serdyuk executed in the "gold embroidery" technique. Also represented are such fields as carpet weaving, wickerwork, and artistic metalworking. Visitors will be able to learn about the techniques used to create the works, the history of the crafts, and take photographs as a keepsake.
