Exhibition "Reading Archaeology"
About exhibition
What does an archaeologist actually "read"? How can one "read" mysterious archaeological plans and objects that don't always seem valuable at first glance? The exhibition invites visitors to answer these questions and to understand how archaeology helps reconstruct the history of humanity. The exhibition displays artifacts that characterize different types of archaeological sites and illustrate stages of an archaeologist's work. Visitors can examine finds unique to the region: a sword from the Nizhne-Tambov burial ground, a net weight in the shape of a moose's head, lamellar bone plates, nephrite pendants, etc. Interactive elements have also been prepared to let visitors feel like real researchers.
