Exhibition "Buryat Traditional Costume"
About exhibition
The exhibition "Buryat Traditional Costume" is permanent. Museum visitors can learn about the traditional festive dress of different Buryat groups — Khori, Songolov, Sartul, Khongodor, Ekhirit and Bulagat. National clothing is a vivid expression of the ethnic characteristics of any people. The Buryat folk costume is part of material culture and reflects traditional notions of aesthetic ideal, moral values and the ritual side of life developed by the ethnic community over centuries. The clothing of different Buryat groups had their own traditional territorial-local features. The traditional costume was perfectly adapted to the living conditions of its time. A woman’s costume reflected her age, marital status and social standing. Skilled artisans who made traditional costumes and ornaments were involved in creating the exhibition. Thanks to their skill and patience, visitors will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the beauty of the Buryat costume, its features and distinguishing characteristics.
