The exhibition tells of the close connection between the historical and ecclesiastical figure Venerable Pafnuty of Borovsk and the Pokrovsky and Rozhdestvensky Monasteries. It displays unique fragments of frescoes from the early Rozhdestvensky Cathedral, painted by the masters the elder Mitrofan and Dionisy; a 17th-century fresco depicting Venerable Pafnuty; and the only surviving watercolor depiction of the Pafnutyev Monastery from the early 19th century. The exposition also features unique portrayals of defenders of the Old Faith — the protopope Avvakum and his spiritual daughters, the noblewoman Feodosia Morozova (in monasticism Theodora) and her sister Princess Evdokia Urusova. On display are men's and women's Old Believer costumes, books, icons, lestovkas (traditional Old Believer prayer ladders), and elements of an Old Believer priest's vestments. Memorial items and photographs from Borovsk merchant and townsmen families, items from the family of K.E. Tsiolkovsky, the founder of Russian astronautics, and an authentic fur coat "from a nobleman's shoulder" are also exhibited.
