Exhibition 'Blues over Paris'
About exhibition
Graphic works by the greatest artists of the 19th-20th centuries from private collections in France and the USA will be presented in Irkutsk: Auguste Renoir, Pablo Picasso and André Masson. These artists developed and continued the experiments of early 20th-century artistic movements — Impressionism, Cubism, Expressionism, Dadaism and Surrealism. They were able to set their vision against all existing traditions and conventions. Eminent figures of the art world worked in different directions and styles, yet they are united by one thing — Paris, the city where their talent blossomed and which made their names famous. Visitors will see works in etching, lithography and heliogravure. The exhibition features a constellation of tender, lovingly rendered portraits by Renoir, among which children's portraits occupy a special place. Picasso's works from the so-called 'California Album' can be regarded as unique; it was not originally intended for public display. For the first time in Russia, colored etchings by Masson from the series 'Episodes' are being exhibited.
