Exhibition "Archaeological Past of the Region"

About exhibition

The exhibition is part of the permanent collection and consists of a series of display cases. They are filled with artifacts found during archaeological expeditions in Novocherboksarsk and other districts of the Chuvash Republic. The human past is shown through ordinary objects: a clay pot, a bronze axe, components of jewelry and weapons, among others. Of particular interest are a bone mace with Chuvash runes from the 10th–11th centuries and a reconstruction of a Mesolithic dwelling dating to the 12th–6th millennia BCE. The exhibition clearly illustrates stages of human development and provides an opportunity to learn about the work of the modern archaeologist.
