Exhibition 'Archaeology: From the Stone Age to the Middle Ages'

Visitors will be able to acquaint themselves with a unique collection of ancient objects discovered during archaeological excavations in the Volgograd Oblast. The archaeological collection of the Volgograd Regional Local History Museum remains one of the largest in the Lower Volga region and currently comprises more than 50,000 items. About a thousand items from the museum's collections are displayed in the hall. These are exhibits from various periods and cultures: Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age, the Great Migration period and the Middle Ages. For the first time, unique items found in the most recent decade of the 21st century are being exhibited: decorated Bronze Age vessels approximately 5,000 years old; harness and belt sets; cult objects and jewelry of the Early Iron Age associated with the Sarmatian culture.
