Exhibition «Alexey Kamensky. By the Way»
About exhibition
The project «Alexey Kamensky. By the Way» — by Moscow art historian, collector and publisher Yuri Petukhov — brought together paintings and works on paper by the Moscow artist Alexey Vasilievich Kamensky (1927–2014), long well known within the art community but not yet widely known to the general public, together with works by Moscow and Kostroma artists. They are all very different artists: K. Gusalov, I. Ermolaev, I. Karamyan, T. Karamyan, M. Krunov, S. Pshizov, V. Tyurin, A. Shcherbinin. They are not his followers and do not copy his stylistics or language. What served as their reference was Kamensky’s mode of engagement in art, while Alexey Vasilievich himself is a supporting figure, a model of a true artist. The exhibition was organized with the aim of assessing the scale of Kamensky as an artist, examining his path in art, and reflecting on the significance of his creations and the influence of his work on other authors. An important part of the project is a book specially published for the exhibition, on the pages of which the memories of many people who knew this remarkable man and artist closely or briefly come to life.
