For the New Year 2025, the Borovsk Cultural Center opens with an exhibition by Obninsk artist Maria Antonova, "Watercolor Stories." Maria is a young artist, yet she is a member of the International Union of Watercolorists of Russia. She is inspired by nature: flowers, mists, forests, the sea, people, cats, sunlight, splashes, highlights, contrasts, stains, and reflections. Everything that makes one pause in the hustle of everyday life and begin to look more closely, holding one’s breath. The artist works with various materials, but is most in love with watercolor — its fluidity, unpredictability, transparency, and brilliance. She most often paints using the wet-on-wet technique, when paint is applied to a damp paper surface and she needs to complete most of the work literally in one breath while the paper is still wet, after which she adds details on a completely dry sheet.
