Exhibition "Where's the Mammoth?"
About exhibition
An exciting journey into the world of Ice Age animals awaits you! Using authentic exhibits and cutting-edge technologies, you can immerse yourself in ancient history and learn fascinating facts about mammoths. The exhibition tells about the lifestyle of these majestic creatures, their role in the lives of prehistoric humans, and the significance of their existence for the ecosystem of that time. More than 50 unique items from the museum's collection—such as horns of woolly rhinoceroses, mammoth tusks and bones, horns of prehistoric bison, and teeth of ancient animals—form the core of this captivating display. Many of the items on show were found in the Kemerovo Region (Kuzbass). Visitors can access a virtual "Ecological Lecture Series" dedicated to the impact of climate change on the fate of mammoths and other large mammals of the past, where various global warming scenarios and prospects for the planet's future can be discussed. For young visitors there is an engaging activity—an archaeological dig called the "Bone Puzzle." Children can assemble a complete mammoth skeleton, testing their attention to detail and anatomical knowledge. During the event children receive task cards that accompany them on the tour; for example, they might try to find a particular fragment of a mammoth skeleton, identify an animal from a footprint drawing, or guess an animal's diet based on an image of its teeth. After visiting the exhibition, visitors receive a personalized paleontologist passport and can take a commemorative photo.
