Temporary exhibitions at the Museum and Exhibition Complex
About exhibition
The priceless treasures of the Yamal land are not only the oil and gas reserves for which it is famous today, but also its unique natural features and rich historical and cultural heritage. The I. S. Shemanovsky Museum and Exhibition Complex reveals the region's many unique qualities through numerous exhibition projects that rotate and complement one another. On the museum's second floor are the archaeological exhibition "Man of the North", the mini-exhibit "Irinarh's Reading Room" dedicated to the life and work of Ivan Semyonovich Shemanovsky, the founder of the library and museum, and the exhibition on the region's flora and fauna "From the Center of Russia to the Kara Sea"; the geological collection is presented in the exhibition "Flowers of the Lithosphere". Visitors can see extremely rare items, for example the mummy of a medieval warrior (dated 1282). Throughout the year mini-exhibitions on the region's history and art exhibitions are held.
