Anniversary exhibition of Mukhadin Kishev's works "Hymn to Beauty" at the Russian Academy of Arts (RAA)
About exhibition
The Russian Academy of Arts presents a jubilee exhibition of works by Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and People's Artist of Kabardino-Balkaria, the senior academician of the Southern Regional Branch of the Russian Academy of Arts, Mukhadin Ismailovich Kishev, "Hymn to Beauty", timed to the artist's 85th birthday. The exhibition features more than 30 works by the master, created not only in traditional painting and graphic techniques but also in the newest forms of digital art. The celebrant is an artist of exceptional creative strength, recognized in Russia and Europe as a painter, graphic artist, monumental artist, and a master of geometric and expressive abstraction. Kishev's turn to Eastern culture, to the rich artistic traditions of his native Kabardino-Balkaria, as well as his assimilation of contemporary Western stylistic trends, have had a significant influence on the development of his visual and plastic language. The artist's work, distinguished by great inner freedom and a high degree of artistic execution, represents an unusual fusion of styles and technical approaches. He made his mark in monumental-decorative art; his mosaics and intarsias have been awarded high honors. In the 1980s Kishev created his own technique in the art of monotype, which has garnered a number of followers in many countries. At the end of the last century he worked for several years in London at the invitation of the renowned Chisenhale studios, and later in studios in southern Spain. Kishev's explorations in abstract art aesthetically and plastically resonate with the experiments of the masters of the "second Paris school" and Op Art. However, despite the involuntary parallels that open an engaging dialogue with artists of earlier generations, Kishev's works always retain a striking individuality. In his pieces Mukhadin Ismailovich favors an open, saturated color palette that conveys his admiration for the beauty of the surrounding world. The artist works in series that differ in theme, figurative interpretation, and technique. Images of fragile existence, dramatic standing on the edge, and anxious expectation constantly assert themselves in series such as "Longing for Nature", "My Africa", "My Friends" and others. He is concerned both with universal events occurring in the turbulent modern world, environmental issues and the preservation of nature, and with everyday scenes that make up the lives of ordinary people.
