Program «Russian Manor Furniture»
About exhibition
18th–first half of the 19th century was a time of genuine flourishing of gentry culture. In the 18th–19th centuries Simbirsk was the "gentleman on the Volga", being a center of "noble nests." For the most part, it is to the gentry collections that the museum owes its rich collection of 18th–19th century furniture. Using the example of manor furniture from the collections of the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum, one can observe the process of fusing folk art with furniture forms borrowed from Europe. The museum's collection includes furniture that came from the noble houses and estates of the Barataevs, Kulnevs, Korolkovs, Kindyakovs, and others. At the end of the tour there will be a game "Riddles of Artistic Furniture," which will help consolidate and test the information learned. By prior arrangement.
