Primates

About exhibition

At the exhibition, the acclaimed master of animal photography Alexander Avalov reveals the soul of monkeys! The show features more than 40 large-format photographs (over 1 meter in size) taken at zoos in Moscow, Baku, Yerevan, Prague, Olomouc and Brno. The main protagonists of the exhibition 'Primates' are monkeys that possess complex behavior and a rich palette of emotions: the western lowland gorilla, the orangutan, the mandrill, the spider monkey, the colobus and others. The images capture the full spectrum of primate experiences — from touching serenity and boundless maternal care to piercing pensiveness, humor and formidable strength. Each of Alexander Avalov's works is a vivid portrait revealing the unique character and personality of the animal. The animal photographer knows how to find an individual approach to each 'model' and emphasize its individuality, for which he spends hours, days, weeks and even months frozen in one pose with a film camera — in search of THAT very shot.
