The Voronezh Art Museum was established in 1933 as a Museum of Fine Arts through the consolidation of the art collections of the former Provincial Museum and the Museum of Antiquities and Fine Arts of Voronezh State University. Since 1984 it has borne the name of the museum's distinguished native, Ivan Nikolaevich Kramskoi. Visitors can see three floors of the permanent exhibition and become acquainted with 4,000 years of world art history. The main exhibition is housed on the three floors of the museum's main building, constructed in 1777–1779 in the Baroque style and designated a federal monument of history and culture; it includes departments of Ancient Egyptian, ancient (classical), Russian and Western European art.
