Permanent exhibition of the Samara Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum named after P. V. Alabin
About exhibition
Visitors learn in the Nature Hall about the features of the ancient and modern nature of the Samara region; in the Ethnography Hall — about the daily life and traditions of the peoples living in the territory of the Samara Governorate. They will become acquainted with vivid pages of history: the construction of the Samara fortress, the region's participation in peasant uprisings, the formation of the governorate and the active development of the city at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries, as well as its special mission (it served as a reserve capital during the Second World War). Among the mineral specimens many are widespread, while some are rare. For the Samara region these include malachite, azurite, chamosite, palygorskite, ratovkite and some other minerals. Bright and original items made from Volga agate — a jewelry and ornamental stone known since the 18th century — reveal the secrets of the region's geological past. Admission to the exhibition is free for participants of the special military operation and their family members. To obtain a discounted ticket, a participant of the special military operation or a family member should apply at the museum ticket office with a document confirming their entitlement to the benefit.
