Levitan, whose landscapes, portraits and historical paintings are displayed alongside works by lesser-known masters G. S. Destunis, P. A. Pleshanov, A. E. Gofman and K. I. Gorbatov. Painting of the early 20th century is represented by canvases by F. A. Malyavin, D. D. Burliuk, K. A. Korovin, L. S. Bakst and others. In the museum's exhibition visitors can see works by Russian artists brought from abroad; for a long time some of them were considered lost. The large-scale 'Self-Portrait with Wife and Daughter' (1910) by F. A. Malyavin, 'Peasant Woman' (1900s) by A. E. Arkhipova, once in the collection of Fyodor Chaliapin, and other famous works have returned home after many years in European countries.
