Permanent exhibition «Russian Visual Art of the 20th–21st Centuries»
About exhibition
The BGKhM's permanent exhibition consists of two themed halls. The first hall houses paintings and sculptures of the 20th century, arranged in chronological order to reflect the main trends in the development of Soviet realist art. Works from the second half of the 20th century are grouped into thematic complexes that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of life in the USSR — the events of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War, the romanticism of the “severe style,” urban environments and peasant life, and to feel the pathos of the grand construction projects of the Soviet era. The second hall presents six sections: “21st-Century Painting,” “21st-Century Sculpture,” “Artists of the Belgorod Region,” “Decorative, Applied and Folk Art,” an interactive children's exhibition “Art Hike,” and a rotating section “Graphic Arts of the 20th–21st Centuries,” which is updated twice a year. The museum's collections currently include more than 6,500 items of Russian Soviet art. Admission is free for students of the Belgorod region.
