Permanent exhibition of the Museum of Nature
About exhibition
You can see the museum's most famous exhibit — the complete skeleton of the female mammoth Matilda — as well as Samson standing nearby — the most complete woolly mammoth skeleton in the world. In the paleontology hall visitors will see the skeleton of a woolly rhinoceros, a scientific reconstruction of a cave bear, and a model of a baby mammoth. The museum also prominently displays slabs with fossilized dinosaur remains discovered in the Kemerovo region. For the youngest visitors there is a 'rock of wonders' with sparkling amethyst druses and genuine fossils of the earliest animals, some hundreds of millions of years old. In the recreated grotto of Barsukovskaya Cave you can watch the flight of digital bats. The halls dedicated to natural history showcase the full diversity of animals, birds, and insects that inhabit the Novosibirsk region.
