Permanent exhibition of the Museum of Art Nouveau
About exhibition
The only Museum of Art Nouveau in Russia is located in the former city mansion of merchant Alexander Kurlin and his wife Alexandra — a monument of history and culture of federal significance (architect — Alexander Zelenko). The museum studies and promotes the Art Nouveau style in the region, collecting information and objects from that era. The main exhibition is located on the mansion's first floor, where the manor's interiors have been recreated. The French word 'moderne' can be translated as 'modern'. At the end of the 19th century, Art Nouveau captivated not only European capitals but also provincial Samara, where it became one of the city's favorite architectural styles: mansions, department stores, banks, and hotels filled the provincial city's space with the elegance of their lines. In three rooms on the first floor (boudoir, study, dining room) there are unique items: furniture, clothing, paintings, and accessories by European and Russian masters of the early 20th century. Admission to the exhibition is free for participants in the special military operation and their family members. To obtain a concessionary ticket, a participant in the special military operation or a family member should contact the museum ticket office with a document confirming their entitlement to the benefit.
