The Marble Palace in Saint Petersburg was built in 1768–1785 at the behest of Empress Catherine II and designed by the architect Antonio Rinaldi. Today the palace is part of the State Russian Museum complex. Inside the building you can see preserved and restored interiors, unique sculptures and bas-reliefs. The White Hall, Marble Hall, Winter Garden, and the Rzhevsky brothers' collection of paintings and decorative-applied arts will delight lovers of history and art. The Marble Palace also houses the permanent exhibition "The Ludwig Museum in the Russian Museum." The halls display a collection of works by well-known domestic and foreign artists of the second half of the 20th century, donated to the Russian Museum by German collectors Peter and Irene Ludwig in 1994. The ticket price includes admission to the permanent exhibition and the temporary exhibition "The Filonov School" (second floor).
