Permanent exhibition in the historic building of the K. E. Tsiolkovsky Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics
About exhibition
Visit independently without guided services the historic building of the Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics, which includes 7 exhibition halls: the “Vyatka of Tsiolkovsky” hall; the “Parlor of a Vyatka Official, 1870s” hall; the “Tsiolkovsky’s Workshop” hall; the “Conquerors of the Sky” hall; the “Embracing the Sky with Strong Hands” hall; the “Space Technology” hall; and an exhibition hall. You will see unique items that convey what Vyatka was like during Tsiolkovsky’s time there. The exhibits present the history of his family and his Vyatka period; you will learn about the Vyatka boys’ gymnasium where Konstantin Eduardovich studied, about his Moscow period, and about Tsiolkovsky as a tutor. During your visit you can independently view a collection of aircraft models, original artifacts, documents, and photographs that reveal the history of the founding of the Kirov Aero Club, its early organizers, outstanding Kirov pilots—heroes of World War II (the Great Patriotic War)—and notable athletes. Visitors will see products from Kirov enterprises whose items are used in aviation. You will also encounter authentic objects related to the history of space exploration: a descent module with a parachute, a liquid-propellant tank for a rocket engine, and a fragment of rail from Baikonur used to transport rockets to the launch pad. In the historic museum building you will admire large painted canvases on space themes by artists Aleksandr Ivanovich Veprikov and Yuri Aleksandrovich Knyazev.
