The Alatyr Local History Museum invites everyone to visit the Historical Department, which presents an archaeological collection and materials on the history of religion and the history of the town of Alatyr and the Alatyr district. Visitors will embark on a journey through centuries and millennia, observing the history of prehistoric society. They will see authentic everyday items of prehistoric people — arrowheads, spear points, small axes, scrapers, pottery fragments, collections of jewelry, pendants, buttons and many other interesting objects. Then, visiting the uniquely themed interior "Monk's Cell", museum guests will learn about the development of belief and religion in the Alatyr district. The interior displays objects of religious cult, the plan of the Pokrovskaya Church of the Kyiv-Nikolaev Novodevichy Monastery, and a model of the chapel in honor of the Holy Mandylion (the Image Not Made by Hands of the Savior). The exhibition concludes with the interior "Peasant's Izba" featuring items of peasant life — a stove, chests, examples of household utensils, farming tools and other interesting objects.
