About exhibition

The core of the gallery's permanent exhibition of European and American art of the 19th–20th centuries is formed by masterpieces of French Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and the avant-garde movements of the early 20th century from the collections of Moscow collectors Sergey Shchukin and Ivan Morozov. These are world-famous works by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso. The exhibition also features painting and sculpture of Romanticism, Realism, Academicism, Symbolism, Abstract art, and other artistic movements of the 20th century. The extensive display is located in the halls on the second and third floors of the rebuilt wing of the former estate of the Golitsyn princes (17th–19th centuries).
