Permanent exhibition at Lermontov's House
About exhibition
In a modest, freshly whitewashed small house with a reed roof, Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov lived from May 15 to July 14, 1841. In 1912 a museum dedicated to the memory of the great Russian poet was established in this house. The furnishings are modest but faithfully match those that were here during the owner's lifetime. They were reconstructed based on surviving plans and descriptions. Everything recalls the dwelling of a Caucasian officer of that time: low plank ceilings, simple black furniture made by soldiers, rugs and weapons on the walls. The museum displays Lermontov's original belongings, his watercolor drawings and 19th-century household items.
