About exhibition

Part of the House of the Shevelevs' permanent exhibition, "The First in the Arctic", introduces the 500-year history of Pustozersk. Using archaeological finds, the exhibition explains why the first Russian town appeared in the Arctic. The second part of the exhibition — "Northern House" — shows the everyday life of the inhabitants of Pustozerskaya volost in the 19th–early 20th centuries. The House of the Shevelevs is a monument of regional significance. It is located in the central part of Naryan-Mar. The building was constructed in the late 19th–early 20th centuries in Pustozersk; it currently houses a branch of the Museum Association of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Pustozersk Museum-Reserve.
