Get acquainted with the city's history and the rich collection of one of the oldest museums — the Arkhangelsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. Today the museum successfully combines museum traditions with modern technologies and can rival leading federal museums in the richness of its collections, which began to take shape as early as 1837. The main part of the museum's exhibitions and displays is located in the historic city center — in the unique complex 'Arkhangelsk Gostiny Dvory'. It is one of the few monuments of 17th-century civil architecture that have survived to the present day. The grand structure served international trade, attracting merchants from around the world. Today the historic building has found a second life as a museum and is rightfully considered the calling card of Arkhangelsk. It houses more than 15 exhibition projects dedicated to the founding of the city, the history of the region's largest monasteries, pages of its military history and Arctic expeditions!
