Pictofauna
About exhibition
Pictofauna is a project in which young designers from the National Institute of Design work on animal imagery together with researchers from the Darwin Museum. As a result, not only original biologically accurate images are produced, but also a whole line of smart souvenirs on the themes of biology, ecology and evolution for children, teenagers and families. The project received support from the Potanin Foundation in the 'Creative Museum' competition of the charitable program 'Museum without Borders'. The competition was launched in the year the Concept for the Development of Creative Industries in Russia was adopted. It supports partnership projects that bring together the efforts of museums, cultural organizations and creative entrepreneurs. At the exhibition visitors will be able to see the original design developments and also take part in selecting the most successful ideas. The exhibition will be accompanied by a parallel program — play areas, creative workshops and master classes. Those most liked by participants in the parallel program will become the basis for new souvenir products and board games that will appear in the museum's souvenir kiosks, and will also be used to hold educational events at the museum and at various external venues — in children's hospitals, at festivals, etc.
