Solo exhibition by Union of Artists of Russia member Alexey Semin: "Copper Wings of Etching"
About exhibition
Rodina Exhibition Hall presents a solo exhibition by Union of Artists of Russia member Alexey Semin, "Copper Wings of Etching." Etching on copper (aquatint) is a variety of etching and one of the most complex and labor-intensive techniques of intaglio printing (also called incised engraving), allowing the production of editioned images with a rich tonal plane made up of the finest dots. "Etching gives the artist a mystical tool: the perfect dot and the perfect stroke. With this binary code you can express thoughts of any complexity. My prints are thoughts about beauty, the undying spark of life and eternal wanderings," the artist reflects. Visitors will see laconic, tranquil landscapes, fantastical narrative portraits, images of heroes from the mythologies of different countries and peoples, and much more. All the works touch on and reveal the theme of the mesmerizing beauty of the world. The exhibition is aimed at a wide audience and will run until 23 February 2025.
