Traveling exhibition "Defenders of Stalingrad"
About exhibition
The traveling exhibition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the defeat of the German–Fascist troops by Soviet forces in the Battle of Stalingrad, one of the greatest battles of the Great Patriotic War. It presents the stages of the Battle of Stalingrad, its main operations — 'Uranus', 'Saturn' and 'Ring' — and the commanders of the Southwestern, Stalingrad and Don fronts. The exhibition features documents and photographs from the museum's collections and family archives that tell how the Chuvash fought at Stalingrad. Among them are Colonel General Prokhor Trofimov, three-war veteran Alexey Yakovlev, Heroes of the Soviet Union and full recipients of the Order of Glory who received their awards in the fighting for Stalingrad. The Medal 'For the Defense of Stalingrad' was awarded to 2,053 people from Chuvashia. Visitors will be shown items from a Red Army soldier's kitbag and pieces of military clothing.
