Palette of the Mongolian Soul
About exhibition
The exhibition features works of painting and graphics by well-known masters of the 20th–21st centuries. All the presented works have a distinctive character. The creative connection between Irkutsk and Mongolia has deep roots. The tradition of creating artworks inspired by Mongolian culture began with Nicholas Roerich and the Irkutsk artist Konstantin Pomerantsev. In the 1980s, creative collaboration between artists of the two countries developed especially actively. Under the leadership of People's Artist of Russia Vitaly Rogal, a group of talented masters was formed, which included Anatoly Alekseev, Vitaly Smagin, Boris Bychkov, and Anatoly Kostovsky. The authors managed to capture the unique beauty of Mongolia’s steppes, mountains, and deserts. Their works are notable for their depth and realism and convey a sincere love of Mongolia’s nature.
