Open City Competition 'Preserve Our Heritage'

The Open City Competition 'Preserve Our Heritage' is an annual competition held at the MAUK 'Center of Crafts' venue, aimed at preserving, reviving and developing the folk arts and crafts of the city of Vologda and the Vologda Region. Each year it brings together masters and artisans who are true connoisseurs of traditional folk culture and continuers of the famous crafts of the Vologda area. The competition accepts works made in the traditional techniques of the folk art of the Vologda region in the following categories: - Lace-making; - Traditional embroidery and weaving; - Patchwork sewing; - Traditional dolls; - Birch bark art; - Painting on wood and birch bark; - Wood carving; - Ceramics; - "Istok" — preservation of traditions (unique and endangered types of crafts). The Open City Competition 'Preserve Our Heritage' was organized by the Municipal Autonomous Cultural Institution 'Center of Crafts' and took place from October 1 to 17, 2025. 147 people from the city of Vologda and 15 districts of the Vologda Region participated in the competition. A total of 220 works were presented across the competition's 9 categories. The 'Preserve Our Heritage' exhibition is open to visitors from October 31 to December 15, 2025.
