Open-air exhibition of the Central Museum of the Air Forces
About exhibition
About 200 aircraft are displayed outdoors at the museum, forming part of a vast and truly unique collection spread over 20 hectares. Visitors can see a Voisin biplane and a Sopwith triplane preserved from the First World War, as well as the La-7 fighter flown by three-time Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Nikitovich Kozhedub. The museum also houses legendary World War II aircraft such as the Po-2, Tu-2, Pe-2, Li-2, Yak-7 and many others. The aircraft arrived at the museum by different routes: some served many years in the skies and were sent into well-deserved retirement (their final flight was delivery to the museum airfield), while others have their own remarkable histories.
