Main exhibition of the A. S. Pushkin Memorial Apartment
About exhibition
The A. S. Pushkin Memorial Apartment on the Arbat is a unique place: it is the only house in Moscow where the writer lived — albeit briefly — as its owner. The museum's exhibition is arranged on three levels: the basement, the first and the second floors of the building. The basement tells the history of Arbat Street. The central exhibit is a model of the Khitrovo estate, where A. S. Pushkin lived in 1831. The first floor presents the period of the poet's life chronologically connected with his stay in this apartment, a time full of anxieties and the deepest happiness — the beginning of a family and a home. Here the story of Pushkin's relations with the Goncharov family is shown, as well as the period of quarantine in Boldino, where he experienced one of the most brilliant periods of his creativity. The rooms on the second floor, where the young couple lived, have been turned into a memorial space. In the living room, where the newlyweds received congratulations after the wedding, evenings, concerts and performances are held.
