Main exhibition of the State Memorial Museum of A. V. Suvorov
About exhibition
The exhibition recounts Suvorov's service across four reigns, his participation in the Seven Years' War, the Russo-Turkish and Polish wars, and the Italian–Swiss campaign. The Small Left Hall contains a section dedicated to the general's family and closest descendants. Portraits and personal belongings of his wife Varvara Ivanovna Suvorova, his daughter Natalia (“Suvorochka,” married name Countess Zubova), his son Arkady, and his grandsons Konstantin and Alexander are on display. The Large Right Hall presents Suvorov's art of command. The exhibition highlights the innovative aspects of his activity and shows the combat practice of the great commander against the background of contemporary military art. In addition to traditional exhibits—weaponry, uniforms, and equipment of the Russian army of Suvorov’s era—there are battle models made of tin soldiers. The Small Right Hall hosts temporary exhibition projects. The dominant feature of the central hall is a stained-glass window depicting Suvorov in a majestic pose in the style of 18th-century ceremonial portraits. In front of the window, framed by cannons, are the commander's military awards and personal weapons. In the niches behind the central display case is a reconstruction of a room from the house in the village of Konchanskoye and an arrangement of items from the house in Glaris and the “Suvorov room” in the Monastery of St. Joseph in the Mutten Valley. Other display cases in the hall exhibit trophies of the Russian army. The Large Left Hall of the museum is devoted to the life and activities of A. V. Suvorov.
