Opening of the introductory information hall
About exhibition
The Local History Museum is pleased to announce the opening of the renovated introductory information hall in the Department of Nature. After the renovation, the hall will present an exhibition dedicated to Lake Baikal. Main elements of the new exhibition: History of research Baikal — from the 17th century to the present day. Visitors will be able to learn about the evolution of scientific investigations and discoveries related to the planet's deepest lake. A glass model of Lake Baikal's basin — a composition with detailed rendering of the lake bed relief and artistic lighting. Special attention is drawn to the recreated diorama "Baikal Cliff". A set of display cases "Endemics of Baikal" presenting the species diversity of the lake's fauna. A photo wall with slide windows — photographs from the personal collection of Ksenia Vereshchagina, Head of the Laboratory of Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture at the Research Institute of Biology, Irkutsk State University. The exhibition includes images of various species of gammarids, allowing a deeper understanding of Baikal's biological diversity.
