Museum route “Main Building + Prikaznaya Izba Museum”

About exhibition

One ticket grants access to two museums that are part of the Kirov Regional Museum of Local Lore. The main building houses the exhibitions “Russia–Vyatka: Features of National History” and “Nature of the Vyatka Region.” Among the unique exhibits is the skeleton of an ancient short-horned bison (a paleontological monument of federal significance). Three-dimensional dioramas recreate the region’s natural complexes with their animals, birds, insects, and plants. In the Prikaznaya Izba building, reopened after restoration (an architectural monument of federal significance dating from the first half of the 18th century), the exhibition “The History of the Building in the History of the City” acquaints visitors with the history of the building itself, Kazanskaya Street, Vyatka crafts and their development, as well as the traditions of Vyatka hospitality and cuisine. The first hall displays museum items that tell about the life, everyday routine, and crafts of ordinary Vyatka residents. The interior of the second hall is filled with rarer and more refined museum exhibits and tells the story of trade and the merchant class. The exhibition also includes display cases with products of Vyatka trades. Tickets can be purchased at either museum, and visits may be made within three months from the date of purchase. Please keep and present the cash receipt.
