About exhibition
Monuments of Simbirsk–Ulyanovsk. Ulyanovsk has more than fifty monuments, among them genuine works of art that harmoniously combine sculpture and architecture. These monuments capture significant events and outstanding figures of the past, serving as symbolic milestones of the city’s shared history. A unique feature of the city is the monumental Leniniana, reflecting the many stages in the formation of the revolutionary leader’s image in Ulyanovsk’s monuments. The exhibition presents in detail the history of the creation of the most famous monument to Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, which has become a calling card of the city. In addition, the exhibition acquaints visitors with the history of the erection of memorial structures commemorating the heroism of participants in the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. Unique archival materials, photographs and documents are displayed, revealing the authors’ creative intent. The contemporary section of the exhibition is represented by works by the noted Ulyanovsk artists Oleg Anatolyevich Klyuev and Dmitry Sergeevich Bobrovich, whose art continues the traditions of monumental art.
