About exhibition

The museum-estate of artist-academician V. I. Smirnov, with a memorial to K. L. Khetagurov, is located in the historic center of Stavropol in an old house with a spacious yard, outbuildings and a fruit garden. The main estate building was constructed in 1851. It was a typical wooden residential house on a stone foundation, with an iron roof, three windows on the main (southern) façade, and a wooden gallery along the north wall. The exhibition is dedicated to V. I. Smirnov, an artist and teacher, his family, friends and pupils in the context of the cultural and everyday life of provincial Stavropol. The atmosphere of the old estate, thanks to the artworks of V. I. Smirnov and his pupil K. L. Khetagurov, and through authentic household items and photographs, the colors and sounds of the garden, will revive the meanings, values and traditions of the Russian family, making the lives of compatriots closer and more understandable.
