Kyakhta residents — war participants and home-front workers
About exhibition
The exhibition tells of the deeds of Kyakhta residents who fought on all fronts, from the snowy Far North to the foothills of the Caucasus; who took part in the first border battles; defended Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad; fought in the Battle of Kursk; liberated Ukraine, Belarus, and the Baltic states; and entered European capitals as victors — Warsaw, Budapest, Belgrade, Vienna, Prague and Berlin. The home-front workers in the Kyakhta district, as throughout the country, also made an invaluable contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War. They supplied the front with everything necessary by working in factories, in agriculture and in transport, and also provided moral support to the fighters.
