Historical Exhibition of the Museum of the History of Obninsk

About exhibition

The permanent historical exhibition of the Museum of the History of Obninsk features archaeological monuments from the middle course of the Protva River and exhibits that tell about the occupations, daily life and traditions of the peasants of the Kaluga Governorate; about the history of three estates—Belkino, Turliki, and Bugry—which are historically connected with the names of notable Russians. The section of the exhibition dedicated to the school-colony “Bodraya Zhizn” ("Cheerful Life") presents interesting facts from the biography of the outstanding innovative educator S.T. Shatsky. The exhibits also tell about the life of Spanish children in Obninsk and about the dramatic events of the Great Patriotic War in our region. The largest part of the permanent exhibition is devoted to the history of the formation and development of Obninsk, the first naukograd (science city) of Russia. The permanent exhibition can be viewed either independently or with the help of the “Artifact” augmented reality smartphone app.
